AI-Driven Future: Semiconductor and Electronic Component Innovations at COMPUTEX 2025

COMPUTEX 2025, held in Taipei from May 20 to 23, concluded with resounding success, attracting over 86,000 professional visitors from 152 countries. Under the theme “AI Next”, this year’s exhibition spotlighted the profound influence of artificial intelligence across industries, with particular emphasis on semiconductors and electronic components — the foundational technologies powering this transformation.

Intel Reinforces Its AI Roadmap with Gaudi 3 and Arc Pro

Intel showcased two major product lines that target the AI acceleration market:

Gaudi 3 AI Accelerator: Competing directly with NVIDIA, this chip is optimized for training large AI models with scalability across PCIe and rack deployments.

Arc Pro GPUs: Aimed at professionals in AI, data science, and visualization, offering strong performance-to-cost ratios.

These innovations imply strong future demand for high-efficiency VRMs, passive components, and multi-layer PCBs optimized for AI workloads.

MediaTek Commits to Advanced Node with 2nm Chip Announcement

In a significant move for mobile and edge AI markets, MediaTek revealed it will tape out its first 2nm chip at TSMC in September 2025. As smaller nodes increase power density and thermal challenges, suppliers of advanced packaging substrates, precision capacitors, and heat dissipation solutions stand to benefit.

This step not only reinforces MediaTek’s competitiveness but also highlights Taiwan’s indispensable role in next-generation semiconductor fabrication.

BIOSTAR Targets Industrial AI with Edge Computing Platforms

Motherboard manufacturer BIOSTAR introduced its EdgeComp series, tailored for edge computing in smart manufacturing, retail, and city infrastructure. These platforms integrate low-latency I/O modules, ruggedized PCBs, and industrial-grade components, reflecting the growing importance of reliable embedded electronics, rugged connectors, and sensor interfaces in real-world AI deployment.

Taiwan’s Global Position: Semiconductor Superpower

Taiwan continues to assert its strategic role in the global supply chain:

Over 90% of the world’s advanced chips are manufactured in Taiwan.

● The government reaffirmed its commitment to building a “democratic semiconductor supply chain alliance”, encouraging collaboration with international partners across foundry services, materials, and key components.

This proactive stance ensures long-term resilience for the electronic components ecosystem and opens new opportunities for authorized distributors, EMS providers, and IP solution vendors.

Looking Ahead

COMPUTEX 2025 not only showcased cutting-edge technologies but also reinforced how the synergy between AI and hardware innovation is driving demand for ever-more sophisticated semiconductors and electronic components. For industry players — from component manufacturers to global distributors — staying aligned with this momentum is essential.
